A Victorian warehouse adjacent to the old Clapham North railway station in southwest London has been converted into the flagship location for CrossFit brand Gymnasium.
The space has been designed to promote an inclusive approach to fitness. The life of the gym is focused around a communal space featuring a large table that provides direct access onto the main gym floor. Members gather around the table to discuss workouts, review progress and offer encouragement – this sense of community is very much at the heart of the gym’s ethos.
The main studio can be divided into two with a glass partition to maximise the capacity. Upstairs, unisex bathrooms with private individual cubicles further maximise the use of space on a compact site.
Durability, was a key driver for the material palette – raw concrete, painted steel and coloured MDF are used throughout, selected to withstand intense wear from vigorous use.
