Fry-Nuffield House forms part of Oxford University’s Somerville College and is now home to the Jericho outpost of Gail’s Artisan Bakery.
The building was designed in the Brutalist style, a term originating from the French word for ‘raw’. Our design takes its inspiration from its ‘béton brut’ or, raw concrete surroundings through the use of humble, honest materials.
A curved island counter clad in timber, meets a red brick tiled floor. Rough plaster walls feature simple lighting fixtures, and mid-century modern furniture completes our homage to this influential architectural movement.
