Victoria Park Village in east London is the setting for this neighbourhood bakery for Gail’s.
The project involved the ‘light touch’ renovation of an old restaurant and many of the existing features were retained and refurbished, including the bi-folding shopfront and courtyard garden.
A simple, monochromatic palette of dark grey tiles and painted brick has been used throughout. This is complemented by bespoke handmade clay pendant lights that hang above the main counter, limed ash joinery for the bread display and hand drawn floral murals that emulate the nearby flora of Victoria Park.
In the courtyard garden to the rear, a simple shelter has been constructed to provide additional outdoor seating year round. The space features outdoor lighting and extensive planters that soften the edges of the patio.
