This project sees the reconstruction of a Georgian terraced home on Oswyth Road, Peckham, into two, two bedroom, duplex residential units for private rent. The outrigger was demolished in its entirety and rebuild in an updated configuration to allow each flat to be enjoyed over two levels.
A new infill side return has been created to minimise the impact on the adjacent property whilst maximising the space and natural daylight to the living space of the lower unit, which spills out onto the courtyard garden through a set of sliding doors.
A new dormer and extension over the original mass of the outrigger creates a loft style open plan living space for the upper unit, with extensive roof-lights throughout that flood the space with light.
From the street the original Georgian façade has been restored, whilst at the rear a simple palette of materials retains the character of the existing building, but clearly defines the modern additions.
