A refurbishment and extension of the Gail’s Bakery in Queens Park seeking to bring fresh life to a bakery that has been a long part of the brand. Here we have looked to use handmade glazed tiles and warm timber to create a sense of the expert and warmth that is reminiscent of the making of bread.
Using chocolate crackle glazed tiles, and dark stained oak, we looked to create a new striking curved counter, expressing tile cuts and joints to optimise the geometry. To the rear we have provided a new colour way and material pallet to open up the seating area. In the new rear space, we expose the ceiling joists to bring a sense of character and honesty exposing the utilitarian approach to a roof structure.
