Following the success of both Park Lane and Brompton Road, El&n were invited to take over the old Starbucks site on the fourth floor of the Selfridges Department Store on Oxford Street London. The brief was to create a mature evolution of the Instagram sensation providing a more gender neutral offering with a service style that suited the setting.
The studio responded with classic details, sculpting marble to create timeless details, around which temporary installations could be created. The key move was to set a striking main counter that would facilitate the drama of coffee making whilst also re-orientating the approach to the cafe as you enter from the children’s wear department.
Counters all come to the ground with weight giving a sense of solidity and monolith whilst El&n’s trademark flowers would form a temporary adornment which would change with time.
