A Georgian townhouse located in London’s Knightsbridge has been transformed into a contemporary family home. The project required a complete overhaul of the interiors, including the redesign of the internal circulation space and the introduction of a new extension to the rear of the property. At ground floor level, a new open plan kitchen allows the main living spaces to merge seamlessly into one another.
The design aims to both preserve the character of the heritage property and elevate its interiors through the use of elegant materials such as brass and marble, adding a level of sophistication that complements the historic shell. Extensive joinery and built in banquette seating make efficient use of the building and allow the primary living spaces to feel generous and be filled with natural daylight.
At the centre of the design lies a sculptural staircase that welcomes guests as they enter the property and winds up through the building to connect the spaces across the different floors, including the master suite, guest and children’s bedrooms on the upper floors.
Other features include a media room, sunroom and courtyard garden.
